In this episode, a humbling fall at a summer party is tied to Naaman, whose pride was offended by Elisha's simple instruction to wash in the Jordan. Today, we talk about the contrast of self-sufficiency vs humble obedience.
Drawing on 2 Kings 5 and James 4:6–10, we see how the gospel humbles us, reveals God's grace to the lowly, and invites listeners to receive salvation by faith, not effort. This is a glorious truth that we must never become too familiar with! Grab that coffee, open your heart and jump in on today’s encouragement!

• 2 Kings 5:1, “Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master and in high favor, because by him the LORD had given victory to Syria. He was a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper.”
• 2 Kings 5:2-4, “Now the Syrians on one of their raids had carried off a little girl from the land of Israel, and she worked in the service of Naaman’s wife. She said to her mistress, “Would that my lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.” So Naaman went in and told his lord, “Thus and so spoke the girl from the land of Israel.”
• 2 Kings 5:7, “And when the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and said, “Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man sends word to me to cure a man of his leprosy? Only consider, and see how he is seeking a quarrel with me.”
• 2 Kings 5:9-10, “So Naaman came with his horses and chariots and stood at the door of Elisha’s house. And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored, and you shall be clean.”
• 2 Kings 5:11-12, “But Naaman was angry and went away, saying, “Behold, I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call upon the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the leper. Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage.”
• 1 Corinthians 1:27-29, “But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.”
• Acts 16:30-31, “Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Abraham's story starts in a house full of idols, yet God had a different ending in mind. This episode traces that unlikely journey from Genesis to Hebrews, exploring how God redeems our origins rather than erasing them, and shapes us over a lifetime of faith. A reflection on trust, transformation, and the promise that the God who begins a story finishes it too.

Hebrews 11:17-19, “By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son, of whom it was said, “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.” He considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.”

This episode is a gentle wake-up call: our days are numbered, and how we spend them matters. The parable of the rich fool, paints for us a sobering picture of what it looks like to build bigger barns while our souls remain unprepared for eternity. The invitation is to live with our eyes lifted, laying up treasure in heaven instead of chasing what moths and rust will one day claim.
That kind of forward-facing faith isn't abstract. It shows up in generosity that costs us something, in showing up for the vulnerable, in making disciples rather than just admirers, and in holding our resources loosely, as stewards rather than owners. It's the old, hard call to be in the world without being shaped by it.

Verses to look up:
Luke 12:33, “Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.”
1 Timothy 6:17-19, “As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.”
Matthew 25:34-40, “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’”
Matthew 5:11-12, ““Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
1 Thessalonians 2:19-20, “For what is our hope or joy or crown of boasting before our Lord Jesus at his coming? Is it not you? For you are our glory and joy.”
Hebrews 10:24-25, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

What if before you entered the Kingdom of Heaven, you must first answer one of Jesus’ questions?
Today we glance at “Sermon on the Mount” and the “Beatitudes”, showing how they reveal the kingdom's standard and our deep need for grace. This episode calls listeners to humble repentance and faith and outlines the promise of salvation for those who confess and believe in Christ.

In this episode we get honest about how sometimes it is hard to trust God when we want control. Surrendering control is hard, but that is where we find true victory.
Giving our whole heart to our Good Shepherd who knows the end from the beginning is where we find peace in the personhood of Jesus.

Today, we explore what it means to be a disciple: learning, participating, and passing on the truth of God’s word rather than inventing new ideas. Discipleship is about being sent, sharing the gospel, and living out the paradox of grace and truth.
Through practicality and encouragement, this episode calls listeners to journal, pray, and intentionally tell at least one person about God’s goodness, trusting the Spirit to use ordinary lives for extraordinary kingdom purposes.

Today we talk about the comforting scent of fresh-baked bread and the stubborn sting of burnt popcorn.
The aromas in our lives can expose the heart behind our offerings. Listen in today as we unpack the contrast between half-hearted, duty-driven offerings with genuine, sacrificial worship.
Drawing from Romans 12 and 2 Corinthians, we are encouraged to present their lives as living sacrifices, transformed in motive and sincerity, so our lives become a pleasing aroma of Christ that points others to the gospel.
